General Medical Services:We welcome people of all ages who are low-income and uninsured, or covered by Alliance DC, and provide low-cost, patient-centered primary care services and specialty services on-site, including minor surgery, Gynecology, Cardiology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Dermatology, Orthopedics, Acupuncture and referrals to other specialty services including Physical Therapy.

Additional Programs to Enhance Health Care:Chronic Care Initiative: Continuum of care for patients with diabetes, hypertension or cardiovascular disease, from early diagnosis. Regular follow-up with a medical provider and support provided by individualized or group education sessions available. Medical supplies also available in some cases.

Diabetes Focus Groups: Individualized or group education sessions to reinforce and provide support in lifestyle changes that are essential for adequate management and prevention of complications related to diabetes

Pasos Saludables (Healthy Steps): Group education sessions to reinforce and provide support in lifestyle changes that are essential for adequate management and prevention of complications related to diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease (Esp. Nutrition, Physical Activity, Stress, Tobacco Use).

Medication Assistance Program: Assistance in obtaining free/low cost medications for all patients through a variety of programs.

Celebremos la Vida!: Cancer Prevention program, including on-site screening mammogram, pap smear, required follow-up and health education about breast and cervical cancer.

Project Wish: District of Columbia Department Of Health (DCDOH) Cancer Prevention program, including screening or diagnostic mammogram, pap smear, required follow-up.

Colorectal Cancer Education: Health education program and take-home testing for Colorectal Cancer.

Counseling: Psychological support for patients to address stress, coping skills, PTSD and depression.

Diabetic Eye Exam: Diabetic patients receive retinal eye exams for a small fee through Columbia Lighthouse for the blind.

Howard University Hospital Diabetes Self-Management Program

American Diabetes Association recognized program for meeting the national standards for diabetes education

The program is taught by a registered dietitian and registered nurse who are Certified Diabetes Educators. Patients will enhance their knowledge on proper food selection and improved diabetes self-management skills Patients of all ages with either type 1, type 2 or gestational diabetes may be referred. Group diabetes education classes are held once a month from Tuesday - Thursday from 9 am to 12 pm. Individual diabetes education and medical nutrition therapy for diabetes are held Monday - Thursday from 9 am - 4pm. Referrals are required from a healthcare provider. Most insurances are accepted and cover the cost of this service. Please call to make an appointment.

WWC offers pharmacy services onsite at ETMC and by delivery at MRC. Having a pharmacy services-colocated with our medical services makes WWC a convenient place to fill your prescriptions. Once you are a client, you can call ahead and we have your prescriptions ready for pick-up on the day of your appointment. Our pharmacists are knowledgeable about diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, asthma and much more. They can also teach you how to use your glucose meter to properly manage and monitor diabetes. Pharmacists are available for one-on-one sessions to provide medication counseling, medication education, management of side effects, assistance with filling pillboxes and more.
