Homeless services

Through First Helping, the Kitchen provides citywide, street-level meal services, referrals, and counseling to people who are homeless.

Provides a low-cost Community Voice Mail program to help homeless individuals maintain contact with family members, employers, and service agencies.

Offers a nationally recognized 12-week Culinary Job Training program for unemployed adults who are either homeless or receiving public assistance.

Collects and re-prepares more than one ton of surplus food.

Senior Center

A day-center that provides seniors with counseling services, healthy meals, health promotion, transportation, and recreation services. Free meals daily at noon. Health screenings, education and food pantry classes are available. Seniors with high blood pressure are provided monthly blood pressure monitoring and those with diabetes learn how to prepare healthy meals in the cooking classes offered in the diabetes education classes.

Provides free home delivery of prepared meals or groceries to individuals or families affected by chronic or life-threatening illnesses, such as HIV/AIDS and cancer. Free nutrition education and counseling is available. Services include nutrition and wellness workshops, cooking classes, food safety and nutrition information, and body composition tests.
