The American Diabetes Association overnight camp programs for children and teens, combine a program of summer activities with a program of diabetes education and support. Both components challenge each camper to reach their maximum potential, both mentally and physically. The campers are actively involved in managing their diabetes. Goals for campers include improved self-esteem, taking responsibility for diabetes management and social adjustment in a new setting away from home. The activities are planned for the interest and skill level of each age group and provide new and different experiences for campers each year. Nutrition activities, blood glucose monitoring and insulin administration are integrated into the camp program. 2012 TRIANGLE D CAMP GENERAL INFORMATION - R FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE. APPLY EARLY, FUNDS ARE LIMITED. TIME PAYMENT OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE. FINAL PAYMENTS ARE DUE AT LEAST 3 WEEKS BEFORE THE START OF CAMP.

Camp Rainbow is sponsored by the Houston chapter of the American Diabetes Association. 2012 dates are June 25-28th at the Circle Lake Retreat in Pinehurst,TX. Children with type 1 diabetes are invited, as are their siblings. Ages allowed are 4-13 years old. Campers 14-17 years old may apply to be counselors-in-training. Camp Rainbow offers the summer camp experience under the watchful eye of a fully trained medical staff. Camp Rainbow is a day camp which runs from 9am til 3pm each day.

Camp Sealth is a program owned and operated by Camp Fire USA on Vashon Island. The American Diabetes Association recruits leading medical professionals in our local community to provide all medical care for campers with diabetes. It is hoped that each child who attends Camp grows as an individual through the ideas and experiences shared.The ADA Washington State philosophy is that children and teens with diabetes can be successfully mainstreamed into existing traditional summer camp programs. This means that ADA Campers at Camp Sealth will be in cabins with children who do not have diabetes, so they can come to camp with their best friend or sibling! However, be assured that medical staff, testing supplies and low blood sugar treatments are available throughout daytime activities and during the night as needed. Additionally, while the food choices at meal times are not always sugar free, registered dietitians are available to help campers work these foods into their meal plan. With this philosophy, campers emerge from Camp Sealth with a better

The camp offers an exciting week of recreational and educational activities that focus on nutrition, lifestyle habits, self-esteem, and team building.
